This accredited online training provides healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and practical skills to recognise and manage paediatric emergencies. It covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), airway management, AED use, recognition of clinical deterioration, and emergency team coordination. The course duration is 1 hour and awards 1 CPD point, with a certificate of completion provided. Learners have 6 months from purchase to complete the training.
The course focuses on immediate life support interventions for infants and children. Learners will practice the ABCDE approach, CPR techniques, airway management, recognition of clinical deterioration, and team-based responses. It ensures compliance with national guidelines and equips healthcare staff with the skills to respond effectively in paediatric emergencies.
This course is designed for:

Nurses, doctors, and midwives involved in paediatric care.

Allied health professionals working with infants and children.

Clinical staff required to meet CSTF Level 3 Paediatric ILS standards.

Healthcare professionals fulfilling Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) CPD requirements.
Summoning immediate emergency help for paediatric Basic Life Support (BLS).

Starting CPR with chest compressions.

Locating and operating an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Understanding national guidelines and local resuscitation policies.

Recognising and responding to patients with clinical deterioration or cardiorespiratory arrest.

Initiating an appropriate emergency response.

Providing basic airway management.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:

Recognise and assess an unresponsive child or infant.

Perform paediatric CPR, including compressions, rescue breaths, and bag-valve mask use.

Manage choking in children and infants.

Operate AEDs for paediatric use.

Recognise and manage respiratory emergencies (e.g., asthma, allergic reactions).

Recognise and manage cardiac emergencies (e.g., arrest, arrhythmias).

Recognise and manage seizures in children and infants.

Recognise and manage anaphylactic shock and administer life-saving medications such as epinephrine.

Apply the ABCDE approach effectively.

Provide basic airway management.

Initiate post-resuscitation care.

Communicate and work effectively as part of a resuscitation team.

Recognise seriously ill children and intervene to prevent cardiorespiratory arrest.

Understand roles and responsibilities within emergency response teams.

Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) CPD Requirements:
