Course Outcomes
1. Familiarity with relevant legislation, policies, and guidance related to safeguarding children, such as the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and local safeguarding procedures.
2. Ability to identify indicators and signs of different forms of child abuse and neglect, including physical, emotional, sexual abuse, and neglect, as well as understanding the impact on children's well-being.
3. Developing skills to assess and manage risks to children's safety and well-being, including identifying factors that increase vulnerability and understanding the importance of risk assessment tools and procedures.
4. Understanding the significance of effective communication in safeguarding children, including building rapport with children and families, sharing information appropriately, and maintaining confidentiality.
5. Recognizing the importance of multi-agency collaboration in safeguarding children, including effective communication and partnership working with professionals from different sectors, such as health, education, social services, and the police.
6. Understanding the roles and responsibilities of different professionals involved in the safeguarding process, such as reporting concerns, making referrals, and participating in child protection conferences and reviews.
7. In-depth understanding of legislation, policies, and guidance related to safeguarding children, including complex legal frameworks and procedures.
