Who Can Attend?
It is suitable for Mental Health Support Workers and for Health Care Assistants who can easily attend a one-day course.
Course Outcomes and Outlines
To demonstrate the knowledge and skills required to assess a victim's responsiveness and breathing, and provide effective rescue breaths and chest compressions.
Importance of basic life support/First Aid skills and the role of healthcare workers in emergency situations.
To gain confidence in using an automated external defibrillator (AED) in the event of a cardiac arrest.
To be able to recognize and respond appropriately to various emergency scenarios.
To understand the importance of early recognition and intervention in cardiac arrest and other medical emergencies.
Understanding how to clear obstructions in the airway.
Good body positioning during Recovery Position and CPR, like being directly over the chest, helps ensure that chest compressions are effective.
Understanding drowning
Understanding and managing choking in adults, children, and infants, including abdominal thrusts and back blows.
Understanding and managing common medical emergencies, such as stroke, seizures, and heart attacks.
